Hello from Melbourne
Hi. Nikhil from Melbourne. How's everyone? Has anyone here ever assembled a prayer cabinet? Could anyone advise on the type of timber that's commonly used in assembling prayer cabinets?

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Nikhil"....
There are a stack members around Melbourne and cross Victoria plus the rest of the country.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork.....
Cheers crowie
PS - Watch out for local Melbourne get togethers, great way to meet like minded forum members & network ...
Also, Best start a new thread in the "general section" upon your question to gain a wider audience and thus answers...

Would not know of any religious preferences at all. Have never heard of such. Have done Catholic (small say 250mm) crosses as parts for a church interior in western red Cedar - more to go with the other woodwork than any thing else. Have heard of cedar of Lebanon for crosses & sandalwood for prayer beads, But not for any particular religious reason. I'm an atheist so not up on such matters. I think -something nice is probably the go, but don't know of preferences. Probably several trees worth of "pieces of the true cross" would be around the world!
