Advice for Antique Rocking Horse Mane Removal.
I am restoring an antique wooden rocking horse. It has a mane that has obviously become quite ratty over time and I would like to replace it. It seems to be attached by lots of nails as well as some glue. The glue makes removal of the nails difficult, and the nails make removal of the glue difficult. Does anyone have advice on how best to remove this without damaging the horse?

It depends on the glue. Try a bit of gentle heat with a heat gun. Protect the paint area to Avoid affecting the finish. Soaking the leather with water is another thing I would try. Old glues were often reversible with heat or water.
