Default Finish to highlight and easy care of NG Rosewood (wood) laminated desk top & drawers?

Hi, Looking for advice on good finish to highlight and easy care of NG Rosewood (wood) laminated desk top & drawers. This is recycled furniture that previously had (and drawers still have) a lacquer applied to. The top needs to be cut down for me to use as desk (and recycle offcut). The desk is mainly for laptop and small computers to sit of with stands for monitors. I intend the final frame to be on wheels (probably matt black painted steel). I love my shellac but feel it will darken it too much but easy maintenance. Danish oil is easy apply and maintenance but I think it will darken it. I've just started trialling waxing as easy to apply (also good to remove paint drips).
I feel mixing systems might be to hard to repair and get it matching. Open to all opinions and recommendations including how the sand to best accept the finish.

I just stripped a silky oak blanket chest to sand the wood and trialled waxing. So far I really like it but inexperienced on long term. If it means and annual clean and new application to make it look great again I'm into it.

I'll confess to being a coffee drinker at the desk and do use a coaster (most of the time )

    Cheers,
    Nick

If you are not looking at removing the lacquer and want a product that will clean the lacquer and seal any raw edges Constantia Organic Finishes Cleaner Restorer along with their Chinese wood oil will do the trick.
