Sanded floor(Rainforest timber)
We are having our floor,(laid 1953), repolished in 4 rooms, and from start in 3 rooms. The contracter has sanded all the house 3 times, and used 7008 which in 1976 was used on the four rooms, but the finish is pulling away from itself(don't know how else to describe it) leaving oval pits in the shiny top coat, in all rooms. These pits are rough on the base and very obvious. They are in some places on some boards, not the full length of any board, so it doesn't seem to be the fault of any particular timber. The floor is mixed rainforest timber, with a lot of silky or bull oak, also black bean, white oak-what ever could be sourced locally after WW2. The contracter says he has spoken to the firm who make the finish and they have said it may be contamination in the timber. The family has always lived in the house and it has never been flooded, nor can we think of any contamination of any sort. He s coming back tomorrow to resand and put a fourth coat on one room to see if that works. He says he has never had it happen before. Has anyone had this problem and if so how was it sorted to give a beautiful high gloss finish which we had originally on the rooms done in 1976?

Sanded floor (rainforest timber)
The 4 rooms previously done with 7008 in1976 would have had Durosil floor polish several times prior to 1991. Not since then. There were no worn through spots when the Durosil was used, so couldn't have been in the timber, only on top of the 7008. All old finish taken off to bare wood. Thanks for your reply, but I don't think that is it. Nor does the contractor, considering the time frame. The fourth coat ,put on yesterday, after sanding, was even worse with the pitting.

Perhaps the Wattyl Estapol Flooring 7008 2 pack had started to gel, through incomplete mixing, in places during application. I assume the 7008 was purchased recently? or as mentioned above a wax has been applied?
From the TDS - _233 (lpb-dev.azurewebsites.net)
"Similarly, lack of adhesion between coats may occur with old floors that have been previously coated with wax, if a high percentage of wax has penetrated the timber to below the re-sand level. This causes excessive scratching and in extreme cases, peeling of the topcoat will occur."
