Truly a first world problem, solved today - at last!

About 2 weeks ago, at around midnight I got up to get myself a drink of water and remembered the dishwasher needed switching on. Fumbling around in the dark to set the program I accidentally set the language to Danish or maybe it was Latvian. DOH! I left it till morning and then searched for the manual, could not find it so I tried playing around some more with the controls and somehow manage to set the Child lock to "on". I only knew it was the child lock because a little key appeared on the screen and I could do naught with any controls. By pressing every combination of button half a dozen times I eventually worked out how to temporarily suspend the lock and run the dishwasher, but as soon as the program was done - back to "child lock on", anyway - at least I could get it to work but only on "intensive mode".

This became a bone on contention between SWMBO and myself - seeing as "I" had set it to Danish or was it Latvian, and still knew how to drive it. it thus became my job to operate it, and dishes kept getting stacked beside the sink till I cleared them.

I gave up on finding the manual and eventually downloaded a new manual - 46 pages of fine bloody print ! Always in a hurry I skimmed thru it a few times but could not find how to change the language. This morning I made a coffee and sat down and started going through the manual systematically and eventually found how to change the language and unlock the front panel.

What I reckon we need on some of these devices is "seniors" mode - set it to that and nothing changes. A bit like my mum had on her washing machine, one program - push for on and off - that's it!

A trick that I have used for years is any appliance in the house, I put the instructions UNDER the cutlery tray in the kitchen, safest place for them and easily found by everyone, it was a habit that I passed onto new home owners, surprising how it has found its way into the building industry over the years

Working out how to revert to English is of a small benefit, however, learning Danish and Latvian could open many doors to new and unimagined adventures. It would certainly make that trip to Latvia more fulfilling.
And all because you forgot to turn on the dishwasher.

Simple problem; simple solution.

You just have to learn Danish.

And if that does not work, then you have to learn Latvian.

And if that does not work, then maybe you should have learned Polish.

I still do.

I'm in charge of cooking the dog food (Carrot/Sweet potato and rice; mashed whole chicken frames, and Kangaroo mince) and the dishwasher never cleans these pots well enough even after the dogs have licked them all over. So they get hand washed.

SWMBO's idea of cleaning up in the kitchen after cooking/baking is filling the sink with water and piling the dishes into the water and leaving the extras by the sink. I leave it until I cant stand it and then fill dishwasher and hand wash the rest! I suffer this because the cooked items are usually very yummy.
