Staining oak black
Hi All
Ive recently made up a few picture frames from american oak and was looking to stain some of them black. I have seen some videos online about using india ink however have also seen people can have a number of issues with the grain raising alot using this method.
I was wondering what methods other people use to stain oak black, and what finishes they use over the top?

If you do a search of the forum for Porters Palm Beach Black you will hopefully find my recent review where I used it over American Oak veneer. I would be very happy to use it in your situation.

I have used Feast Watson Black Japan on oak veneer.
2 coats gives a nice deep black, they have small sample pots you could try first.
Good luck with your project.
