Good points for the rebuttal Peter, though in it's defence here we are conducting a sensible gentlemanly(person?) type debate as is unfolding here due to the knowledge that the first person to denigrate uneccessarily will relegate it to the section whose name may not be uttered.
Also there has been some really good debates held within the orange zone in which I for one would have valued your and others' input whom have been very noticeable by their very absence .
Sure there is some questionable material as well but I've seen worse on ebayBruce C.
catchy catchphrase needed here, apply in writing to the above .

IMO, one of the reasons that they are good is that people don't have to mind their P's and Q's. They also know that they are going to have to accept other peoples comebacks even if they don't like them because running to an administrator isn't an option.
As others have pointed out, first and foremost this is a woodworking site provided by the good will of Neil and the good offices of .
However to many of us regulars, it's also more than that. It's where we come to hang out with our virtual mates.
Somewhere to have a laugh and exchange ideas. And I think having somewhere we can go and be a bit boistorous without disturbing the tenor of the rest of the board is a good thing.
Perhaps moving "off" posts there from elsewhere on the board isn't the way to go though.
I don't want to come across as being critical of the admin of this place though 'cause heaven knows that it can't be easy trying to please everyone.
Personally, I hope Open Slather stays.
Cheers
