Absolutely, I am generalising, I was really trying to sympathise with . My point was the poor bugger seems to be on a hiding to nothing.

That borders on politics, which would see this thread move to the orange room. Lets just say I don't neccasarily agree with your idaes. I would love to continue this in the Orange room, as there have been a couple of good debates on politics, as well as religion.

I do agree that perhaps the orange room, moving threads, deleting threads, deleting real estates2K , needs to be bedded down a bit. I guess that is what is after.
    Boring signature time again!

Good points for the rebuttal Peter, though in it's defence here we are conducting a sensible gentlemanly(person?) type debate as is unfolding here due to the knowledge that the first person to denigrate uneccessarily will relegate it to the section whose name may not be uttered.
Also there has been some really good debates held within the orange zone in which I for one would have valued your and others' input whom have been very noticeable by their very absence .
Sure there is some questionable material as well but I've seen worse on ebay

Well put. I fully agree that there have been some good debates.
IMO, one of the reasons that they are good is that people don't have to mind their P's and Q's. They also know that they are going to have to accept other peoples comebacks even if they don't like them because running to an administrator isn't an option.

As others have pointed out, first and foremost this is a woodworking site provided by the good will of Neil and the good offices of .

However to many of us regulars, it's also more than that. It's where we come to hang out with our virtual mates.

Somewhere to have a laugh and exchange ideas. And I think having somewhere we can go and be a bit boistorous without disturbing the tenor of the rest of the board is a good thing.

Perhaps moving "off" posts there from elsewhere on the board isn't the way to go though.

I don't want to come across as being critical of the admin of this place though 'cause heaven knows that it can't be easy trying to please everyone.

Personally, I hope Open Slather stays.

    Cheers
    Craig

Bruce, the gentlemanly discussion is reminiscent of how the board used to be. It used to be robust and without fear of being shafted to the O room or deleted. We all knew the rule on no politics, sex or religion and generally abided with it until a few decided to test the boundaries. Rather than dealing with those individuals and maybe removing their posting ability the current changes took place.

For the record I once reported an offensive post as well as post on the board my objection for all to see. I have also contacted about 2 offensive and threatening pm's I received from "aeg20boat", informing him and asking if he preferred to deal with it rather than me starting a post about it. If that means chucking my toys out of my cot so be it. However generally I publicly debate matters rather than running to the Mods.

Fully agree with that Craig, but we were able to do that in the past without the O room. I am also mindfull of being critical of the admin and would not have posted if not asked for our opinions.

Now listen, Chuck! You leave Al's blighters alone. They don't need to be quartered. Any further talk of quartering a bloke's blighters and we'll come over and trossach your sporran and grampian your gronicles!
