Bloody scam calls
Stopping scam calls,
Below is a screen shot from my phone for today, apart from the ones I’ve crossed out, they were legit calls.
An the one with 7 calls, four were me ringing them back to quote “wasting there time”.
So that is just one day!!!
It’s really really really P……. Off.
There all calling to either upgrade my website or some other crap bla bla bla.
Yes I have a Web site unfortunately [emoji20].
So I know that’s how there getting my number.
An I need a Website because I’m self employed so can’t even try a Private number.
I know I can block there number, but that seems a waste of time they just use a different number, it’s getting to the point we’re I recognise the voice an accent.
I’ve tried wasting there time, I tell them I can build them a Website just send me your bank details bla bla bla, or I ask them if I know there cousin or something dumb.
But I’m even over that now.

More just a rant.
Cheers Matt.

I have stopped answering calls from unknown numbers. Figure if they really need me they will leave a message.
Also sick of the sms messages with links install a virus on the phone.

In a previous thread I mentioned if they don't speak instantly I hang up; and that I have never had anyone call back to say I hung up on them.
UPDATE: 1st time yesterday I hung up on my daughter cos she was slow off the mark. She does run a business so always busy. She understood.
BUT; once in 2 years is not bad, plus I don't get so many now.
I appreciate it being different if you run a business.

Genuine callers are likely to leave a message. Scammers don't.
I have started to ask for their address so I can send them a cheque. Strange, they don't want to give it out and most are rude and just hang up.
The other calls I get are about my energy account. I ask if it is an emergency? If not, good bye.

I’ve found that blocking the number has worked, after blocking a couple of dozen, they seem to switch from number to number and use the same 15 or so, I worked this out by looking at the numbers from calls recieved on my wife’s phone from them, and many were the same. But the old postman’s whistle trick straight down the phone certainly discourages them too we’ve found.

I have been very lucky this week! One call from Cuba, the second from Romania and the last one from NZ !!!
All three showed the international area code and only part of the caller's remaining #...

yep if the caller isn't on my contact list I won't answer and if they don't leave a message too bad, scammers everywhere lots of wasted talent that could be put to good use.

Unfortunately not answering calls is not great for Business, generally if people are looking for Trades, they will normally have a list of two or three to ring up.
So while some do leave a messages, if I miss the call, others will just ring Number two on the list,
Meaning I could mis out on a potential work.
Cheers Matt.

Following on from this, I am getting bombarded with text messages saying that I have a voicemail averaging 3 a day. I am with Telstra, some of my friends on Telstra are getting them, others are not getting them and the others on Optus don't either.
Really bugging me, but no bugger cares?

I used to get up to 3 of these "you have a message' texts a day arriving at the same time but the latest one shows a change of direction, "to stop these messages press.....".
A change of tactic and probably more likely to catch the unwary.

Yes I have seen that as well. About 3 months ago I bought a new Motorola phone so I can us QR codes and I have the Trend Micro virus protection on all my devices. Not sure what does it, but a little red symbol with an exclamation mark comes up against any of these scam texts to warn me they are suspect.
