Sorry if I’ve stuffed up the codes…. I missed Friday and Sunday as we have had visitors over Easter, though we did get some shed time with one of the visitors building their own lazy Susan

I’ll check the codes out but Lance had said to me it was the same meeting with the same codes, mmmmm

i did get a lovely visit from another forum member over the weekend as well courtesy of the old mailbox pic, turns out he recognized it from walking the dog past the house

I accidently purchased a narrow kerf blade, and it's a pain in the neck with my standard riving knife. Doh!

Whilst we moved around a bit i'd say the summary for the topic goes like...

Riving Knives - essential safety device or a waste of time?
Absolutely essential in one form or another.

Riving Knives v Splitters
There were a couple of views on this but it sort of settled on a splitter doesn't go up and down with the blade and generally mounts the overhead blade guard. The riving knife goes up and down with the blade and bevels
Modern saws blur this with companies saying there blade guards are attached to the splitter and often move with the blade, up down and bevel and the riving knife supplied also moves and is lower than the blade for non thru cuts.

Riving knives - do they need to match the blade?
The device behind the blade must be thinner than the kerf being cut and thicker than the body of the blade.

We started to get on the short v long fences but run out of time, so maybe we can continue some of this next week.
