Finish for PNG Rosewood windows?
Hi - First time user and i need help
I have just put PNG Rosewood timber windows on my house extension and i am looking for the best recommended oil to use
I have read dozens of reviews on different products and it only confuses me more
Sikkens, Cutek & Intergrain Ultraclear Exterior have been the main 3 brands suggested.
I am after a quality produce that is easy to apply (water based) that doesnt yellow or grey or peel and is easy to re-apply when needed
Can anyone help ?

I like Cutek, but it is expensive. It is oil based, but IMO that makes it easier, because it doesn't flake etc 3 or 5 years down the track. ie you shouldn't need to sand the deck back (ever, hopefully)
cheers,
TM

I’ve got Sikkens on my cedar weatherboards, external cedar doors and windows. Only the north wall and one set of windows is in direct sunlight (rest of the cedar is under a pergola with “suntuff” clear roofing) but it’s holding up well. Very happy with it.
I used Intergrain Ultra deck on my front veranda - I’m sorry I used it.
I’ve heard good reports of Cutek on decking but haven’t heard reports on windows etc.

Sickens UV (I think that's the name).
Never used it but some 30 odd years ago a builder friend of mine used it on his entire weatherboard house (cedar I think) worked well according to him. Eventually with time it went grey. Shock horror!!!
No... Sickens claimed when he purchased the finish.... it could come back from greying to looking like new with another coat over the grey timber.
He recoated and hey presto it come back to looking like new again.
Haven't seen it in in 20 years but but saw him at T&WWWShow maybe 9 years ago apparently still going strong.
Hope this is of some help. Second hand info but from a very reliable source.KEEP A LID ON THE GARBAGE... Report spam, scams, and inappropriate posts, PMs and Blogs.
