    Default Bench top Jointer

    Hi Everyone,

    Anyone selling a bench top jointer?

    I don't have one to sell sorry, but just thought i'd mention that most of the benchtop jointers while they do a decent job, are a brushed motor and are amazingly noisy.

    If you can find one with an induction motor that would be far better.

    Thanks Ian, I only have a 2x3m space so space is a premium. Would it be noisier then a dewalt 735 thicknesser ?

    I had the thick cast iron frame one same as Hare and Forbes and the Carbatec one, and I would say it's on a par with the thickies I've used.

    I'd hate to see what the pressed metal frame ones are like, they must sound like a freight train I reckon!

    Seeing as they have a dust port, you could probably muffle the noise a bit by making a shallow box with higher front and back sides lined with foam which should make a bit of difference.

    I did hate using mine though, there was nothing serene or pleasurable about using it to get a nice face or edge on material. In fact I used it once, possibly twice, and then sold it.
