Hello Gents!
G'day gents from north of Ft. Bragg NC. Recently medically retired from active duty after many good years serving my red-white and blue. Now it is time to serve myself some soul food by setting up a woodshop for myself and our ten children. Something I have been wanting to do for decades.
Looking high and low to figure out a particular machine Ishitani uses in his videos. A surface planer that takes of one micro thin continuous shaving prior to final assembly, similar to running a hand plane as a final surface prep vs sanding. Anyone able to tell me what kind of machine this is and if that is available within the US as a single phase unit? If you have not watched Ishitani on youtube, I highly recommend.
Cheers

welcome to the Aussie Woodwork forums. You're WAAAAAAY north of most of us
Thanks for serving your country - it's not my country, but that's still a huge thing for someone to do.

Hello,
Welcome to the forum.
Google tells me that the machine is called a "super surfacer".
There's a discussion on the tone ishitani uses at this link.
What tool is this?
Regards.

G'Day & Welcome to the Great Southern Land and to a top forum,
There are quite a few members from the "USA" plus "canuck" members and the rest of the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork.....
Cheers from On Top DownUnder, crowie

Yes mate, waaaay north. That has never deterred us from fighting shoulder to shoulder though, when need arrises (Two thumbs up). I think of us as kin my brother. We all serve our countries in some fashion if we are good folk, and service to country, the right country, serves I hope, the greater good for others as well. Believe me, I am not going political on you, just reflecting on some history and what our brothers in common have done for us all, around the globe. I appreciate your notice...
Also, as an aspiring woodworker, and one who is finding good things in the Japanese way of woodworking and tools, I noticed you already have heavy access to things Japanese.
