Hi Everyone
Hi, I'm Nealaron.
I've been a woodworker since I was 20 (now 62). I started out as a carpenter and gradually moved specialized in finish trim and cabinet work. I was able to continue that work while I enjoyed a career with the local fire department. When I retired from driving fire engines I decided to learn how to make furniture, finally making use of the FineWoodworking magazines I had read and collected over the years. I gravitated toward the Mission Style and Arts and Crafts Movement in designing my pieces with a great love for Greene and Greene. I took some woodcarving classes and found someone to teach me marquetry which I incorporated into some of my furniture pieces.Once my granddaughter was born I became interested in making wooden toys which led to my discovery of wooden automata. I am humbled by the ingenuity and craftsmanship I see in that field and I love the whimsical quality people infuse their work with. I found out about this forum through Automata Magazine and am looking forward to the opportunity to communicate and collaborate with you. Woodworking for me has mostly been a solitary endeavor and I would like to change that. Thanks

G'Day & Welcome to the Great Southern Land and to a top forum "Neararon",
There are quite a few members from the "USA" plus "canuck" members and the rest of the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork.....
Cheers from On Top DownUnder, crowie
PS - Please show some of your toymaking in the toymaking section, thank you
