I think I'm going to sell it all
Evening Gents.
This is just a heads up for those who may be interested, and before I actually list anything for sale.
For a number of reasons including health, age and finances it's become apparent that I will not be able to complete my vision of activating a whole batch of machinery I bought 4-5 years (or more) ago. Some may recall me gloating about some of the purchases. The pieces will include all of the pieces in my post linked hereunder, as well as quite a bit more.
Any suggestions? https://www.woodworkforums.com/f299/putting-collection-equipment-179320Don't Just Do It.... Do It HardenFast!!

I'm sorry to hear that Hardenfast. It's a bugger when your plans/dreams hit the rocks.
I'll hit retiring age in under 15 months - but I won't be allowed to retire then as I have teenage daughters, one of whom will still be at school. I hope I'm still fit and healthy when I do get to retire (eventually) and will be able to enjoy the small workshop I've spent years working towards.
Good luck.

I’m shocked and surprised to hear this.
Sorry I’ve never made the 50 minute drive up to say g’day and perve on your haul.
Im retired and have been for about 5 years, I’ve been pretty good at not buying more big toys in that time.
Before I retired I’d sold off most of my big Wadkin kit and bought Bursgreen as they came up.
I also had an existing big shed so didn’t have to spend the time and money you have to build one.
Before you sell off everything think very carefully, I regretted selling my big lathes and a Wadkin RS 8”
was purchased recently. I also scored a Wadkin JTA from Camoz but that’s another story.
You seemed to enjoy turning that bowl recently and that is different to what you have done in your working life as a builder.
Why not plan on keeping your lathes ( one of which is irreplaceable in Oz) and enough other gear to do woodturning. Even if you have to move and won’t have 3 phase lathes can be run off single ok.
I guess I’d be interested in the JTA you scored from up north if it could be converted back to lineshaft operation.
Happy to come up for a chinwag if you like, PM me.
Just had a brain fart!I bumped into a bod last Sunday at Shannon’s Eastern Creek do who’s missus is thinking of getting back into WW now the kids are grown up. They have land up your way they’re retiring to.

Evening Vann - thanks for your thoughts.
A combination of an industrial accident and a subdivision project gone bad has brought about a change in priorities. Nothing tragic, just a different direction is all. Like you I think I may be aiming for a more modest retirement setup than I currently have.Don't Just Do It.... Do It HardenFast!!

Hey Wayne, sorry to hear that you feel you need to give up such a project; I would be interested in both the bandsaw and thicknesser if you didn't already part with it. The bandsaw would be very cool as I recently bought a 12" Macson jointer from the 40's that I shall be restoring.
I am also actually moving in with my girlfriends parent in the coming months who are located close to Peats Ridge, so quite close to Gosford.

Thanks for your note, Toomnus. The bandsaw and the thicknesser will definitely be for sale shorty, as will the other equipment. I am heading off to Japan for a short holiday in a couple of weeks and will get serious about listing the items upon my return. There has been considerable interest from some forum members in regard to different machines and I will definitely list the items here prior to fielding offers elsewhere. I don't have 3 phase power at the shed to demonstrate running condition, but I did see all of the gear in operation prior to pick up. Hopefully most of the pieces will find appreciative homes with members here. Interesting that you will be moving to Peats Ridge - that's just up the road from us at Somersby.

Oh awesome Wayne, japan looks like an amazing place I hope you have a great trip. I have seen photos of some insane tool shops packed to the absolute brim with quality tools. Will you be you be hunting down any cheap Japanese chisels and such or strictly a nature/culture visit?
Ah Somersby is even closer, cool part of the world. Well when you do get around to listing the machines I would love to buy the bandsaw with the blade sharpener. Then when I get it restored and up and running you can come enjoy it!!
