repairs to kitchen cabinet
Hi folks,
I've just aquired a house to use as a rental, and need to do some repairs to the kitchen cabinets. I don't have a pic of the problem area as yet but will try to explain as best as I can.
The cabinet in question sits directly under the sink, in the past some time the hinges had pulled out of the melamine/chipboard creting some holes. The previous owner has used a piano hinge to get around fixing the damage to the cabinet, as a result the door does not hang straight on the cabinet.
Personaly I would like to fix the problem rather then a work around solution like this. Basically I would like to re-install cabinet hinges and have the thing look like the rest of the kitchen.
Oh - and I would like to do this without pulling the whole kitchen apart,

A common problem with HMR cabinets.
Re-fit the euro hinges in the door and fill in the holes on the carcass with an epoxy sawdust mixture. When it cures, drill an 3.3mm hole and put in your screws. This will work provided your carcass is not too bad, otherwise, I think you need to replace the carcass.
The other option is to move the location of the hinge in the door and fill in the old hole with polyester putty (car bog). This way your screwing into an untouched area of the carcass.

I'll give the epoxy/sawdust mixture a go, I had a look at it last night and the rest of the carcass seems OK.
