    Default Hello from Canberra

I'm just getting into the hobby. I haven't made anything yet. I'm just collecting tools and wood. I have so far:
    -Saw
    -Router
    -Triton tables
    -Some chisels and hand planes
    -Clamps - pipe, bar, G
    -Couple of saw horses
-A collection of wood scraps, slabs and some furniture to reclaim

I am going to set up my Triton this weekend!

Also, I have no idea what types of wood I have. You guys any good at IDing wood?

Welcome to the forum. Consider joining the Woodcraft Guild ACT. We are a very active group with many Special Interest Groups for all levels. The shed is at Kambah and is open for general use 3 days a week and other days and evenings for the various groups. Once accredited you can use the majority of the machines there. Plus there is always plenty of assistance available from more experienced members.

There are various Mens Sheds around Canberra that are very well equipped and cheap to join.

Depending on where you live, you may be interested in joining the Hall Men's Shed. We are located at Palmer Street Hall and meet Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings from 10:00 to 12:00ish. We have a monthly BBQ on the first Thursday of the month.
We have a number of surplus tools which we are happy to pass on for a small donation to the Shed.

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Ian".
There are quite a few members in Canberra and around the Southern Highlands with a stack of members in Sydney area plus the rest of the country.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
    Enjoy the forum.
    Enjoy your woodwork......
    Cheers crowie

PS - These a good Triton Club in Canberra!
