HAFCO BP-420 - advice on one for sale near me
Does anyone have an opinion (preferably useful
) on this Hafco machine: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/newc...saw/1216517794
Advertised model (no longer available): https://www.machineryhouse.com.au/W4324
Replacement model : https://www.machineryhouse.com.au/W433
Seems pricey (the new model is currently 1700 ex VAT (which I don't need to pay) incl 2 year warranty, and it's probably more bandsaw than I'll ever need, but it's nearby so might be worth me making a realistic offer...

Ben, I can't offer you an opinion on this bandsaw, other than to say, it's got a bit of grunt (I have a Jet 1.5Hp). If the quality of the build stacks up, I think it's a heck of a bandsaw, but I can't comment on that aspect, sorry.
But (and this is only my opinion), $1700 new with a warranty IMO is a better deal than $1500 with no warranty. If you have a trailer, and a bit of time, you can easily head down to Sydney and pick up the item from Machinery Warehouse yourself to save on delivery costs.

The build quality on those is reasonably good. Its just a larger version of the BP355 I have and that is still going nicely after 8 years. He is asking a bit much however. As MM said for another $200 you get brand new and warranty.
The listing did say negotiable so perhaps do some horse trading. Secondhand rule of thumb is about 2/3 new price in good working order.
Regards
John
