    Default Emailing jokes.

I have been using the " email this page " in the joke section , but the recipients have not been receiving them. Wondering if anyone else has had the same problem. My email is working ok used normally. pker

Didn't know there was an "email this page" there.
I usually click, copy and paste when I see a good one.

Why are you emailing people jokes that are there for all to see. That's bordering on spamming.

    Neil is the boss.

    I'm not going to disagree.

but, if you do want to share a joke, it might be better to invite your friends to join the forums

    Dear ubeaut,
I send the jokes to my daughter in NQ & she sends me ones she sees. If that is wrong why is in thread tooling?

If you want to send to your daughter, just highlight, copy, past into your usual email and send....

So I just tried this to see what happens. It seems like the simplest way to send a link to any thread on this site, not just jokes. All you have to get right is the recipient's email address and the system takes care of packaging the link to be looked at. What could be simpler?

It doesn't cut and paste them out of the forum and in any case hardly any of the jokes here seem original anyway, they've usually been cut from some other site or mailing list already anyway.

I don't have a problem with emails being sent but pker said: "the recipients have not been receiving them"

I had no idea how many people were being sent these jokes or how often.
Could have been just a couple every now and again, or hundreds every day.

A couple is fine but bulk mail-outs can cause the forums all sorts of problems and even have us placed on an email blacklist.
This could cause us a major problem as there are thousands of emails sent out from here every day to members following subscribed threads, reported posts and other moderation notifications, new members conformations, bannings, reports to Stop Forum Spam, birthday wishes and a whole lot more.

I send the jokes to my daughter in NQ & she sends me ones she sees. If that is wrong why is in thread tooling?

The email is in Thread Tooling as an assistance to people wanting to send a link re something interesting to a friend or someone wanting info or pertinent info on a particular subject, etc.

I don't have a problem with what you are doing. What peaked my interest was the word "recipients".

I hope the above helps you and others can understand why I responded as I did.

    Cheers - Neil
