but still, the link that bought this to the unread pile smells spammy to me...

I had a quick look at the link. Other than the fact that it's in Turkish (or whatever) and hence, Greek to me, it is about double glazing.
I doubt we'll see the him here on a regular basis. (or ever, for that matter

I agree that the link doesn't appear to be malicious. But spammy in my definition is a link that "looks" relevant, but adds no material value, and is used to draw traffic to the site - what your typical clickbait news headline might set out to do. Certainly adding a post in an Australian forum that is not in English like the thread's conversation is, has not that significant a relevance to me. The supporting post didn't say anything about what was new or innovative about the link, nor did it really add to the overall thread (in my view - but I'm not a moderator, not even in my spare time ) We don't know, without stepping thru the translation hurdle (which I suspect not many have bothered to do - me included) whether there's some pearls of wisdom there, and I'd expect to at least have some indication in the post as to why we should bother jumping off into someone's site, not just "ooh look, I've got a page with some cloned text I found on the internet/Wikipedia that is relevant, jump over and bump my ad-revenue up please" (and I'm also not saying this person has cloned the text - just that it's a pretty easy/common thing to do, and it's all aimed at driving revenue, sometimes not through ad-revenue)
Now if that last line before the link had told me they have shown a way to simplify the build of a double glazed window then that would have not have made the spidey-sense tingle...
