Gday Folks
Hi All, at the age of 37 I’ve decided to get into doing some woodworking at home and I’m pretty pleased with my first few items, I’ve managed to make myself a desk and a bar top out of some river red gym slabs, thoroughly enjoyed the process so now I’ve bought myself a lathe and some chisels and I plan to learn slowly the art of wood turning.
I live in the Snowy Mountains NSW and plan to start using these forums as a great place to access others experience and knowledge to help me get started.

These are my first 2 pieces of work, I certainly learnt a lot about different finishes.
These 2 slabs came from the same tree however you wouldn't know it, just simply different finishes.

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum.
There are quite a few members across NSW with lots more across the rest of the country & the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you keep showing off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
The timber tops are beautiful.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork......
Cheers crowie
