Default $&#@(*&”’. Bunnings and Feast Watson

Tried to buy some Feast Watson Prooftints snd Sanding Sealer from my local hardware. No can do. Feast Watson took it off them - didn’t ask why. Went to my local paint shop and all he had was what was left on the shelf.
Apparently, from October, Feast Watson is now only available in Bunnings. My hardware and paint guy used to sell Feast Watson product cheaper than Bunnings and that was the case in lots of paint stores. Bunnings huffed and puffed and now they are the only supplier and I can just see prices going up on product only available from Feast Watson

Given their gradual decrease in quality over the past few years, I'd say Feast Watson are a perfect fit for Bunnings.......

Did a test using vegetable oil and deck oil of said brand. Two years in the sun and the vegetable oil has way outperformed the deck oil. Pretty disappointing for such an expensive product.

FW have changed the recipes on many of their products over the past few years, always it seems with an eye to reducing (their) costs rather than anything to do with performance. In most cases there are now better performing alternatives available from other brands.

I'm sure they'll get on splendidly with the Bunnies boys.

I've been using feast and watson scandinavian oil on some chairs I'm making.
If the fw quality has been affected by the move to bunnings what are the alternative brands?

My main problem with the whole affair is not having a choice of where I buy, be it crap or not. I like to support my local hardware - it’s closer than Bunnings and they have staff that care.
Now I have to look for alternatives in Proof Tints, sanding sealer etc. and there isnt a choice available locally - I’ve checked.
Guess i’ll Have to bite my tongue, kow tow to the monopoly that is Bunnings and buy there

I thought most of their products were horrible so that's all good! Especially that cruddy sanding sealer!

What sanding sealer do you use? All I can buy local is Feast Watson so i’m open to suggestions.

Both places I visited today have websites which say they stock it but they no longer do. Maybe the ones you visited, like the two I did, haven’t updated their websites.

Both places are reasonably big concerns, with multiple stores.

Time to boycott a product I would think.

ubeaut sanding sealer is my preferred. Otherwise a dilute shellac coat.

Thanks. Unfortunately, Ubeaut states his sanding sealer is not grain filling and neither is shellac, which I have used when I don’t require grain filling.
