Thanks for inviting me and having me. I had a ball. I got taught things that I did not know could be done and got some good tips. I will definitely be coming next year if nothing comes in the way of it. I made my first bowl too...
Wood is Jarrah (thanks for lending me the blank dave) and has 1 coat of shellawax as I didn’t want it to be too glossy. It’s 42mm tall and 134mm wide.
This is a mallet I made using a rasp on the kit from Doug3030. Coat is his “special goo”... Thanks for teaching me how to do it and giving me the experience of woodwork that isn’t turning.
These are just basic practice sticks that I actually took home out of the 4 that I did.

Arrived home safe and sound from a couple of great days at Dave and Raechell's place. Even though it was quite warm we had a relaxing time and good chin wag with friends already known and some new ones.
It was great to have the home schoolers and their parents there yesterday. Each family was a pleasure to be around, a nicer group you couldn't wish to meet.
Uncle Al and Doug did a fantastic job in preparing the kits for the kids to put together and Neil's tuition and assistance in pen turning made each child very proud of what they made. I think Robb o (for some reason the name gets deleted if I write it correctly) was struggling a bit with the enormity of the task of turning table legs for the doll's tableHopefully what the kids saw and did there yesterday leads to a greater appreciation of what they can do later on in life. I know Benny has gone away with many new ideas in his head to work on and I look forward to seeing his future offerings.
A really really big thankyou needs to go to Dave and Raechell for hosting the event year after year. It is all done in such a relaxed, friendly and laid back atmosphere. They are two extraordinary people.
I hope we get to see some photos of the completed fitout of the inside of the van that our overseas friends are doing with your guidance Dave.

I missed what looks like another excellent day. Well done Dave and thanks for all those pix including a reminder of Trevor. I only met Trevor once (at Brett's Katoomba GTG) and he bought a gimmick saw off me at auction. I won't forget.

Benny,
was great meeting you in person. You have a fantastic receptive mind willing and able to soak up new ideas and pit things into practice. I have no doubt you can become very accomplished in what ever you pursue. Keep practicing and find some scraps you can turn into saw dust. Wish I could have spent some more one on one with you but an event such as this makes it hard. Come back anytime. Oh love your hat ... great taste. For those who do not know we both fot our hat's at Hall's Gap and did not find out till yesterday.
Bob,
You were missed. I agree on the bowl front. We had some technical issues with the slide show (lost tv remote) but finally got it working.

Pleasure having you and Jen. Love her Zentangles. She is over modest of her work. Always nice meeting the woman behind a man. Events such as this wojld never work without the likes of you and others coming along. Thankyou for the kind words.
Paul
I so hope you can make it one day. I'd even find the elusive Red Carpet that Simplicity keeps talking of.
The heat has been an issue and today will be a scorcher at 42°. Many will be gone by lunchtime no doubt. It has been a really enjoyable time. More pics from me and others to come.
Paul
