Sure, I'd like to offer my place but It's a bit of a tip and lawn is still suffering from several bouts of dog sitting.

I have been thinking about this for a while. Too long. In years past it was a regular event to meet at my home and have a barbie, play with and talk about our toys, tell more lies, and put on a demo or two. I am very happy to host this again, and also willing to do a demo of something handtool-ish. Tom, would you like to do something router-ish?

I am in Rossmoyne, which is fairly central.

    Regards from Perth

    Hello Gents
I would be happy to host a get together if it suits, I am in Secret Harbour. Some of you may remember my recent shed build
    Sincerely

It has been some time since I posted here to see if there was any interest in having a get together. I am still interested in trying to organize a suitable venue. I did inquire at the time of holding the meeting in Gosnells in the local hotel in a meeting room and if there is any interest I will make some more enquiries if the offer is still available. One question is a mid week better results than a weekend
The Hotel is only 500metres from the train station and also there is plenty of parking space available

    Hi Tom

As I mentioned earlier, my home and workshop is available for a forum get together, as in years past. Being in Rossmoyne, I am probably fairly central for most, and the back garden and pergola area is a decent size.

Some blasts from the past ...

The workshop has all sorts of power and hand tools for all to play with, and I am happy to put on a demo of joint making or something. You could bring along your templates and do a demo as well (I do have a router table for use).

There is a BBQ, and I would recommend that we do something along these lines.

A weekend day is best for me. Any time on the weekend. Weekdays are not possible.

    Regards from Perth

I would like to hear from Tom, since he made a suggestion of a meeting place.

In case there is interest in meeting at my home/workshop (in Rossmoyne) for a BBQ, perhaps a demo, sharing the usual lies and terrible jokes, even a swapmeet .... then a possible date is Saturday 10th March (time enough to tidy up).

Comment if you want to do this.

    Regards from Perth

Wish I lived in Perth, or anywhere near a FTG for that matter!

I was suggesting a meeting place where there was no need for any great big clean up required where we could sit in a spacious area in comfort also finding a spot where there was plenty of parking space for those who may travel by car. Also a venue that was easily suitable to attend using public transport by train or bus.
I was suggesting that we could present a number of woodworking projects where we could learn from each other instead of just watching a couple of practical demonstration being done.
I can arrange the use of a TV screen and laptop where we can submit a number of DVDs that will show a number of woodworking projects for discussion

We can stop and have a light lunch then continue in the afternoon then returning home before the road and train or bus get busy

Interested in your and others who may wish to comment.

    Hi Tom

    Thanks for coming back.

If past events are anything to go by, I would expect about 15 members to attend. In my case, parking is in the street and verge of the front lawn, but should not be an issue as I live in a quiet area.

Of course it is up to others what they prefer. For myself, I would want something that could be hands-on, not a video. I think that we all want to play with tools (hence my suggestions above of show-and-tell and, perhaps, a swap meet), and try out something new. Therefore we need a workshop, and why I offered mine. If anyone wants to offer theirs, then that becomes another option.

We need others to speak up. Not just about venues, but also whether they want a demo or two, and what this could entail. Power or hand tools.

Come on guys and gals. Let's hear from you ... otherwise this will not happen.

    Regards from Perth

I'm going to be difficult and say I'm more interested in the chance to chat and catch up than demos.
