Stanley No. 7 jointer plane Type 15 or 16 Sweetheart SW iron
Stanley No. 7 jointer plane
Made in USA
Exellent condition, recently lightly cleaned. A well-working jointer plane.
This is either what is known as a Type 15 (no patent dates on body but has non-Ogee frog) or a Type 16 (1933 Higbee patent number on keyhole lever-cap) or something in between or a Frankenplane. The type studies are based the No. 4 plane anyway so who cares? It's from the 1920s or 1930s.
Its cheeks and sole have been cleaned up with 600 grit but not flattened. Light pitting here and there. Nothing serious. Proper flattening can be the next owner's privilege.
Japanning on body and frog is around 70% with the usual light rust in its absence. The odd paint fleck can be found here or there too.
Rosewood knob has little wear besides a large bash that has been shellacked over a few thousand times. The rosewood handle (aka tote) is missing its horn which is a common enough occurence and easily replaced or repaired. Otherwise it's perfect.
Sweetheart USA iron with a decent amount of use left in it is possibly its original. I've quickly sharpened it and it shaves Aussie hardwood just lovely. But it still needs proper honing.
Price is $165 posted within Australia.

Pickup can be arranged for a price of $140 but my location is varying between now and Xmas quite a lot.
