Default Minwax wipe on poly availability

Anyone know if there is an underground supplier of this product?

It seems since the great Masters debacle, nobody has stepped in to pick up this brand. A shame really.

I have to finish a new item to match an existing item that was finished with Minwax gloss wipe on polyurethane.

Alternatively, how close is the Feast-Watson wipe-on poly? It's unlikely these two items will ever sit right next to each other so the match so as long as they kinda look like each other, it probably doesn't matter too much.

Have you lost the entire MinWax brand line of finishes? Shame if you did.

What's equivalent in the UBeaut line?

I use MinWax Tung Oil Protective Finish. 4 coats is water-wet glossy.

I tried to find it in Melbourne and could not. I tried to order it from the Paint Shop in the USA. There one online company I did find that said they could send it to Australia and that was a 6 pack and there was going to be a few of us share the box.

Unfortunately I do not have the name of that online company anymore

Re your question about the Feast Watson product, I've used both Minwax and FW and I found the Minwax easier to apply and it gave a better finish.
That was the Minwax poly - I haven't used the Minwax water-based product.

I have and the contact goes straight through to the states.

I did get a response and they siad they would pass me onto international sales to tell me where I could buy it. That was the last I heard from them. The Australian website says coming soon. That has been on there for over a year now.

Masters Hardware closed down in Australia and they as far as I am aware they where sole distributor of Minwax.

It is a pity none of the other hardware chains have taken Minwax up

Some of the chains do have some Minwax product but not Wipe on Poly

    Cheers
    Geoff

I gave FW a go and I will not touch it again. See this

I am prepared to buy it from the US even if it means I have to pay $$$$ for delivery.

I am surprised no one here is willing to take it on, Trend timbers, CT or timbecon...

Bunnings was selling it until Masters came along, then dropped it from their stocked lines.
