My understanding is that for PC users you can open the pic in Pic & Fax viewer and then save it when it is vertical. I don't think there is an actual save button, but you can ctrl S and that will do it. I'm not convinced of how reliable that is, so certainly if the pic goes into photoshop and is rotated and saved it will be ok when uploaded.
Being very fortunately unfamiliar with Macs, I can only suggest the photoshop 9or similar) solution for them.
O'course what will work every time is if you keep the camera horizontal, move back a bit, and then crop in, using photoshop or similar. So 6 of one, half a doz of the other.
All in all, I do hope a solution is found soon because my neck aches.....
Edit:That's because everyone is having the same problem

If I take a photo on my iPhone with the iPhone horizontal (with volume buttons at the bottom left edge), the pictures will load and show correctly IF l use my iPad or iPhone to post a picture.
However, if I download the picture to my PC from iCloud it looks fine in the PC windows picture viewer, BUT if I post it to this site from the PC, it is rotated.
So, to correct the PC problem, I do the following. In Windows picture viewer, I rotate the image 90degrees clockwise and exit the picture which saves the image rotated. I know click on the rotated pictured and rotate it 90 degrees anticlockwise wise (back to the vertical position) and exit the picture to save it.
Dont ask me why, but now when I load it to the site from the PC, it stays the right way.
Because I know it works every time, it only less than a minute to "correct" 5 or more pictures.
I don't have rotation problems anymore.

Does it matter if you make 2 per hour or 4 per hour when it takes many hours to finish each one? Just posing the question for discussion - not trying to claim to know the answer myself.
