Wow.
Yeah, this is the perfect forum for this. They may as well just make a website where they laugh at their customers.
The sad part is that they will sell out of this tool.

Oh come on now, you guys know you've got to have it.
Remember, it's the thought that counts.Innovations are those useful things that, by dint of chance, manage to survive the stupidity and destructive tendencies inherent in human nature.

I actually replied to Bridge City to check that this email wasn't intended to be sent out on April 1st.
The chopstick one just about got over the credibility line (only just), but Pencil Making is a step too far.....
A well-made pen is an article of beauty that will be used and treasured for a long time, but a pencil is a disposable tool that most people wouldn't pay more than 50c for. I think Bridge City are running out of product ideas. Reminds me of that YouTube video someone posted on here about the hand-crafted firewood !

OMG, This is going back 40+ years.
I lived in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area and would ride my small motor bike (125 cc) to relieve stress. I would turn around in a Bridgeville parking lot where some tools were made. IIRC, Bridge City tools were manufactured there. (More power tools than stuff to make pencils.) LOL!

This product could lead to domestic trouble......just imagine the serious injuries that would be inflicted by a loved one/significant other upon being presented with a hand-made (and hand-painted) pencil as a birthday or Xmas gift???
"But darling, I made it myself out of solid cedar, and I painted it in your favourite colour !!"

I can sort of see the "value" in this kit.
It includes the HP-6v2 plane body that is $259 all on its own. The HP-6v is Bridge City's interpretation of a multiplane -- and apart from Lee Valley's latest, the last new multi-plane I'm aware of was made by Clifton and retailed for around $1500 USD. So price wise, Bridge City's offering is not too out there.
But if you look at Bridge City's probable market -- junior executives with more money than time and importantly NO SHED -- I can see the potential allure. For me the comparison would be with a GoPro drone -- a $1800 AUD toy that might get used a dozen times then put away. There's only so many flights you can take from Kirribilli to Circular Quay or around the Three Sisters before you've seen it all before. Same with Bridge City's pencil maker -- make a dozen pencils, hand them out as "personalised" gifts then put the tool away.regards from Alberta, Canada

Looks like a few people will be lead astray with this one and totally miss the point....

Wonder if it can be rubbed out?
