Good evening all, another newbie here:)
Hi all,
I am Hoey from Melbourne north, father of three
.
When i was young and dump bought a portable table saw, router, biscuit cutter Ryobi brand!! And from china table saw got used sometime but not the other just bcos the quality is not there for to use.
Last year i decided to get into woodworking so i can make my own funitures to replace the cheap ones i got over the years. I got myself a good quality slide compound saw, waldown drill press secondhand of course then i fixed a vfd to it , 14" bandsaw, belt and disc sander But i can not use them in the garage, the dusts would kill me
The next purchase must be dust extraction then planer thicknesser combo for my single car garage.
Hope folks here don't mind me asking sillly questions
Hoey

Hi Hoey, big welcome mate.
I'm no expert but there are lots of guys here with a depth of knowledge. Dust Extraction is sure to draw out a lot of discussion, but if you've got time go to Forums/Hand Tools & Machinery/Dust Extraction. Lots of experiences shared there, really valuable stuff. There are 3 'sticky' posts at the top of that page, they're there because they are particularly useful.
My only contribution - deal with the dust first! Then the planer. Don't skimp, do it right!

Welcome to the forum.
If you only have a single car garage then you might also consider having your machines on wheel so that you can move them out of the garage and allow the dust to blow away.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and advices
I did pick up a poo brown DE from Timbercon yesty, there was a British racing green DE there but that's for display only and the only one in Oz so i could not have
Last Sunday I was allowed by my kids to use their unloved skateboard wheels for my bandsaw I can move it anywhere but needs brute force to turn lol
