Hello
G'day all, I'm new to the forum and semi-new to woodworking.
My father was a chippy so i picked up some basics from him, but as i've recently bought a townhouse with a single car garage, i'm turning that into a mini workshop (very mini as i have to share it with the household junk).
I'm currently accumulating the basics (hand & power tools) from anywhere and everywhere that has decent quality for cheap.
One question i wanted to ask to get the ball rolling, I remember many years ago my Dad had a Makita Mitre Saw that you could flip in its stand and it would turn into a mini table saw (combination saws i think is the technical term), I've seen a few on UK tools sites, but was wondering why they aren't available in Australia? Unfortunately, Dad leant his to someone and can't remember who but if i track them down i want that thing back!!! was a great space saver!

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Dibbers".
There are a stack members across the Sydney area plus the rest of the country.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork......
Cheers crowie
PS - Keep an eye out for a get together at Katoomba & Camden for the Sydney area forum members.
Also the Sydney Wood Show is next month and there are a few of us meeting up...
Great way to met & make friends.
May I suggest you ask the Makita question on the power tool sub-section to gain a wider audience & thus better chance of answers...
Wait the "Market Place" as there is often some good machinery for sale....

Welcome to the forum. Is this the type of saw you refer to? Don't seem to be freely available in Aus if it is.
