Manufacturing and Technology specialist avaliable to help you
Hi all,
I am in industry consultant specializing in the cabinet/shopfitting manufacturing and technology field. I am now offering my services to small to medium shop that need a temporary boost in production due to excess work loads, hands-on implementations of efficiency improvement systems and general business needs assessment and improvements.
I am not a suit and tie consultant .. I work with you in your company until new systems are implemented and the benefits of them are being realized. (I have even been known to jump on the assembly bench from time to time!) This is a new concept in the industry .. but there has been much call for this type of help.
Please contact me if you are interested in doing more work .. in less time .. with more profit.
All inquiries will be kept strictly confidential and there is no obligation. Initial needs assessment is free.
Best Regards ..

Scam
You mention "Temporary boost of production". I take this as your labour, not value adding consultancy services that would implement business systems such as JIT systems to have a permanent impact on business therefore I think you don't know what you are talking about and therefore a scam. Also what qualifications beside work experience do you have?

Sorry to hear you think this is a "scam". Nothing could be farther from the truth. Any consulting recommendations I make, I implement myself and if the results projected are not achieved, there is no charge.
The reference to "Temporary boost in production" means just that... some companies are not prepared to invest in a long drawn out consulting process at this time.. such as implementing "lean" or as you mentioned "JIT" (just in time) both of which in their true definition are totally impossible to implement because most suppliers are not up to speed with any form of current technology for comunications, and if your suppliers wont supply JIT .. it doesn't work very well. I would be happy to share with you some of the many hybrid system I have developed and implemented for this vary reason. But many companies do need a temporary input of labour to get over a busy period or to get them through until they can find the right permanent person.
But back to your point of "temporary boost in production" .. what I do is hire myself (or suitable colleague) out to work "temporarily" to help a business that needs extra detail work done on the software, extra help going out to re-measure a kitchen reno site before production starts, jump into assembly for a day or week or what ever, or any general help they need to get through a busy patch that we can help with. There are many "set-out" companies that will do this very thing in the Shop fitting industry (Set-out City for eg).. I have only broadened the scope of what we help with. I have begun offering this type of service through consumer demand .. not from my own initiative.
We offer all levels of BPM consulting. From full process management implementation to NBM advise and coaching to assisting in implementing a simple production plan (which I find amazing many that manufacturing businesses don't even operate with a simple production plan at all). My goal is to work with individual companies hands-on, and create as many highly successfully and profitable clients as I can (and share my knowledge (and education!) with all willing participants. My only requirement is that the company ensure total engagement in the success of any new systems being implemented.
My education is, most recently, with a CPIM certificate from APICs, 25 years of experience with business improvement specializing in manufacturing efficiencies and 15 years of business ownership myself. I now have the luxury of visiting 100's of different businesses every year and see all levels of success and failure. I tend to look at the successes and work on duplicating the common denominators that exist. When you work in one environment all the time, this luxury is not usually afforded to you. Any technical or formal education I have pales in comparison to the education I gain from my clients.
No scam here .. just an honest effort to offer assistance at the level many smaller companies need it at.
Please feel free to send me an email, I would be happy to have a coffee with you one day and talk about any theories you might have. I believe I might have something to learn from you as well.Last edited by gator3535; 25th September 2008 at 12:33 AM. Reason: spelling

Do you have an MBA ?
This is usually what savy dudes ask those 'bright young things".
Or can you actually do something. Methinks the latter but you sure are a smooth talkin bustard.

No MBA here .. I am a cabinetmaker by trade .. owned and operated my own successfully business for many years.. then decided I had enough of the stress of company ownership (mainly because we were not making enough profit for the time I was putting in).. sold the company, went back to college to add to my experience (and to learn the error of my ways), also worked as a cnc integrator (for a well known software company) for a number of years while offering additional consulting help, and now very much enjoy working with different clients to make real improvements and more importantly .. more profits out of an 8 hour work day.. for the company.
Like I said .. I work with my clients hands on. I do not produce a big report, collect the check and hope it all works out for you like some traditional consultants. I only implement things I can see through to completion to ensure results are achieved and ROI from my services is happening right away.

Man, all you guys are harsh.
Sometimes consultants are useful. Yep there are lots of fast talking BS artists out there, but they aren't all scammers.

This is an employment forum and he has put himself out there to be hired - just like it says at the top of the page. I can't see any reason not to give him a fair go unless he proves himself unworthy of it, which he hasn't. The risk here is on him and any potential employer who hires him. A bit unfair to be bagging someone looking for work when there are a bunch out there who couldn't be stuffed making the effort.

Just looking over old posts and this one came up. I got real kick out of reading this one from so many years ago.
So much has happened in 10ish years since this was posted but mainly, I have thoroughly enjoyed, and continue to enjoy, helping joinery business owners create a profitable investment out of their joinery business. And one they love working in again. Being a cabinetmaker and previous business owner myself, I know how much we love what we do. The problem is, over the years this gets overshadowed by our limited business skills as tradespeople ... resulting in a stressful business unable to pay bills on time, keep good employees, get jobs done on time etc etc. We have all been there right?
The best feeling I get (other than time with my family of course) is seeing a business owner, for the first time, see their business grow - feel the business will be worth all the hard work they put into it - feel a sense of confidence that they will have a business they can either sell at a good price or keep running (without them needing to be in it) and returning good profits for them.
Scam ?? lol, If I am a scam I need to learn how to be a scam artists because I have worked very hard to build a great client base, great reputation and, to be honest, very modest income.
After almost 15 years of coaching and advising to joinery businesses, we are now kicking massive goals with clients getting huge results but it was not always like this. I too had to work hard and smart to get to this point but have always been driven by my passion for helping people in this industry I love.
Typical results now are ....
Amazing case study click here
This post is not a sales pitch for new clients ... just an interesting look back and a little dig at "Mech Engineer" who suggested I was a scam.
Happy to chat ... I'd love to hear about your business and offer you some free advice if I can. After so many years helping joiners in business I do have some tips and tricks to help and am happy to give them away.

Cheers all ...
