I found another workaround as well; type something, hit enter, then backspace

I still use Win XP and Firefox and the majority of my posts are done in Quick Reply, I have no problem with the spacebar at all.
I used to have the occassional problem with the return/enter key but that seems to have disappeared.
I used to vercome that by hitting Go Advanced when that happened and that resolved the problem and kept the text I had already entered.

I didn't read all the responses so forgive redundant info.
I get the same thing, but it only happens when I'm quoting something. For example, I'm using the QR box now and it's fine, but if I had used the "Reply With Quote" function it probably would've been broken and I would've had to "Go Advanced" to get it to work appropriately.
I've been using chrome for a while, and it started for me when I upgraded to Windows 10 on a new machine.
Not really sure of a fix, but everyone seems to have better luck with the forums on Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Good luck,
Luke

My problem is slightly different. When replying with quote and I make a correction the cursor goes to the beginning of my reply and everything that I then add will only land at the beginning.
My fix is to delete all of the spaces up to the end of the quote and then I can add at the end of my reply.
I'm using firefox and win7.

This tool is called the vb editor qr editor.
It is caused by an incompatibility in the callback on Chrome/VB in the CKEditor. It requires the editor to be updated, but the developers of vBulletin 4 have said they will not update it and have asked the various sites to upgrade to vB5... but that isn't always an option.
The quickest solution as a USER is to hit ENTER as the first character, before anything else. One may backspace it to delete it if they wish to remain tidy.
Here is a bit of a run down and a few fixes to put in place by the site admins: https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/foru...on-reply/page3

I mostly use the Quick Reply window and never have a problem.
I use windows 10 on all my computers and either chrome or Firefox. I never use IE which was a major problem with vBulletin Forums, but have found the forums seem to be fine with Microsoft Edge.
I started photoforums.com.au using vBulletin 5 and it's not a patch on vB4 and needs a pretty steep learning curve to come to grips with it's way of working and lack of features. Wish I had never used vB5 for that new forum.

The problem is sporadic for me and I also see it in other fora so it must be a software bug. Win 10 & Opera. I too wish you had not used the version that runs the Photo forum. While posting this I have not had the problem BTW.

Chris
You have had a number of problems over the last year or so, this one is pretty easily fixed. Have a go at some of the below and see how you go. I believe Chrome were to supposed to have fixed their part of the problem late last year.
- Try using Go Advanced for posting instead of using Quick Reply.
- Make sure windows is up to date
- Try using latest version of Chrome
- Try using latest version of Firefox
- Try using Microsoft Edge which came packaged with Windows 10
- Opera is usually pretty bulletproof but not sure with this problem.
- Try other work arounds as detailed in this thread. eg hit return then up arrow and type your post.
Hope this is of some help.
PS I think everyone who has upgraded their forums to vB5 has wished they had never done it. It does lack a lot of the special things and niceties available on vB4 and doesn't handle attachments anywhere near as well.
For me, vB5 is a real disappointment coming from a forum designer that used to lead the rest. If I could afford it I would think very carefully about shifting away from vBulletin on all 3 forums.
I put vB5 on for Photo Forums as a trial to see if it was worth shifting WWF & MWF to but there's no way I would do that.
vBulletin has cost us rather dearly over the last few years especially with the massive loss of photos and other attachments which wass due to their sloppy programming of an upgrade and that's just one of the problems caused by them since they were taken over a few years ago.

Rant approved! WIN 10 is always up to date unless the computer is not connected to the internet or updates are turned off, it is going to be interesting in April because there is a huge re-write of WIN 10 being released about then with all sorts of new stuff in it. I don't know if you are aware of it but Opera since V20 has been a re-skinned version of Chrome so what works in one works in the other. Opera does have unique features though that have been added by them and that Chrome lacks. It is a pity VB has caused so much chaos in the world's fora and those who manage them but what is the option, the few fora I see not using it don't really impress TBH. The problem has only been a minor nuisance to me as it does not happen all that often and my post was just a heads up for others. Thanks for taking the time to reply so comprehensively.
