Power switch for home made router table.

I have one of these for my Triton. https://www.carbatec.com.au/machiner...ead-mount-brkt. Slightly more expensive but really easy to mount with the external steel bracket supplied.

I also use an extreme extension bit so I do not need to lock the shaft to change the bit. It is much more convenient.

However, I use a variety of bits so wanted the easiest possible change. If you do not change the bits much that may be over-the-top for you.

Is this a NVR? If not then that's a big price compared to PWS.

I just rang Carbatec and Melbourne and neither of them know if this is a NVR or not? I also emailed them and the reply was ... "I believe so". I'm not ordering unless I absolutely know. Its not mentioned on their web site. How poor is that?

In fact the guy in Brisbane told me to ring back on Wednesday and he'll find out. Why don't they know? For $130 you would think so but if not then that's very expensive for what basically is an emergency stop button.

I think PWS has my business except they're closed until the 9th Jan.

It's probably not a NV otherwise it wouldn't need a separate E-stop mushroom.
Typical E-stop mushrooms use a physical latching off switch so they have to be turned back on again manually - this is not the same as a NV because if someone turns them back on and the motor switch is still on the motor will start again
If the switch is a NV then an E-stop would not needed and they would use and emergency "off" mushroom or paddle that acts direct onto the NV off switch.
I fit both E-stops and NV to my gear when I can. If the E-stop is between the GPO and the NV it triggers the NV to the off state.
On lathes usually I put the NV near the speed controls and the E-stop at hip height on the RHS of the lathe.

If you're interested in a bit of history.... when we started our business 12 + years ago we identified a 'safety switch' as a priority for our range. We looked at the 'off the shelf' offerings mainly from Asia and weren't excited quality wise. A sparky friend offered to make a few for us in his spare time, using quality components that complied to AU/NZ standards.

Over time our friendly sparky's spare time disappeared and we found a guy who was setting up a specialist industrial switch gear operation in Melbourne, many hundreds of switches later he still makes our switches, including the deluxe version (illuminated buttons) added at the request of Worksafe who were concerned at the safety of school workshops.

It is always our aim to supply quality locally made products where possible e.g. ProRouter Tables and ProRouter Switches

Good choice. I got one just before Christmas, it works well and easy to install.

Just installed it and it does work very well. Instructions could have been a lot better but it does the job. It is fairly chunky. Highly recommended.
