No Petrol Day
Just got in my email !!!
NO PETROL DAY!!
IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN AUSTRALIA DID NOT PURCHASE A
DROP OF PETROL FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD
CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.
AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OVER
4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.
THEREFORE THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 22nd HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT
UP THEIR BEHIND " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE
DROP OF PETROL THAT DAY.
THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY
PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT. WAITING ON
THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS
PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?
REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF PETROL GOING UP BUT AT THE
SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE
FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS
SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING SUPPLIES MEDICAL SUPPLIES
ETC.
WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY,
WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.
SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU
KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE SEPTEMBER 22nd A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS
OF
AUSTRALIA "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

What a load of rubbish.
The statistics don't add up as is usual in these weird chain emails. The only way the oil companies would be hurt is if we reduce our consumption as the day on which we buy our petrol is of no consequence to the oil companies but it would hurt the mostly independant service stations who employ staff without receiving income.
Also I doubt that we in Australia buy " 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS " worth of petrol in one day. Thus this appears to be another straight copy of some Seppo prankster's spam, and swearing at us as well.

Gazza youve been sucked in by a mail that was doing the rounds 6 months back. One of the morning TV shows did the sums the other day and the conclusion was the figures just dont add up.
These emails seem innocent enough but theyre a devious way for spammers to harvest active email addresses...it works like this.
1. send out a bogus email to as many people as you can.
2. ask each recipient to forward the email to their friends.
The body of the email seems innocent enough but take a look at the header. Most people dont know how to or are just too lazy to use the blind copy feature on their email program. Consequently they blindly forward the email as received complete with dozens of active email addresses in the header.
Eventually the mails get into the hands of the spammers who then have more email addresses to either send their cr*p to or stick on a CD and sell to other spammers.Whatever note you blow youre never more than a semitone away from the correct one....(Miles Davis)
