Default Hall table - recycled jarrah

    Evening all,

Finished this hall table earlier this morning and thought I would let you have a look. I built it chunky to fit in with the other furniture in the same room. I had many design changes on the size of the legs and nearly made them thinner...in the end I decided to take a chance and leave them the original size with a small taper in the lower half.

Everything is recycled jarrah that I found in a salvage yard. Bought the wood to make a fort around the kids cubby house, when I cut into them I just had to put some aside for some furniture. I didn't fill the old nail holes on purpose which I think adds a little character.

Had to buy a new metal detecter cause I missed a nail which destroyed my 32mm bandsaw blade (why do the expensive blades always find the nails? on the second board ... new detector works much better and my new Henry brothers blade arrived too.

Finished it with two coats of organoil which hasen't fully dried yet, the house smells nice though

    Cheers, Buz.

Buz - great recycling. The timber has a rich warm colour to it. Yeh know what mean about metal detecting. I use the detector but still a couple of nails have touched my thicknesser blades - oh well the price we pay.

    Hi Teejay,

I'm still P***** with the nails but really happy with my new lumber wizard (small one) metal detector. Would recomend them to anyone who is recycling wood.

    Buz.

Excellent stuff. I love the grain pattern. Well done.
