What a game!
You may not be aware but we get AFL games live here. Our Fox Sports 2 (FS2) network broadcasts a game on Saturday/Sunday night. (1 AM Eastern or 10 PM Pacific time zones)
We'll record the game and watch it a few days later. Even SWMBO enjoys the game.
We just watched the Hawks beat the Suns. A really interesting game as the Hawks scored very quickly but then the Suns took the lead for a large part of the game. Finally the Hawks came back to win the game.
The blokes that play are incredible athletes. It is amazing that more players aren't seriously injured. The worst that I've seen is a bloody nose and a hyper-extended knee. I think that there was a concussion in this weeks game but I'm not sure.

It's a great game, Rrich. I'd never seen a game until I went into the army, when I had to play it, along with everything else. I was won over, but for a long time we didn't see first class games, as it wasn't popular in NSW. However, we now have two Sydney teams, both doing well, and it's probably more popular than the other codes.
Glad you enjoy it.

We too became converts to AFL a few years after South Melbourne came to north and re-branded Sydney Swans...
Fast moving always action and as you said Top Athletes are the players, so quick & sharp with there play the ball...nothing else like it!!!
Makes every other game of football look slow and pail in its dynamic flow...

Yeah, good isn't it. Personally, I'm not a great sport fan but a good game of AFL is up there with the best you can see, in my opinion. It is a quite technical game in my view. I like to look at the ratio between goals and behinds, a team that is playing well will always score more goals than behinds, and the end scoreline really tells a story.
Gaelic football is where it comes from, god bless the Irish, and there is is an international competition between us and the shamrocks each year.
As far as a ball sport is concerned, it's up there with the best. In my humble opinion. By the way, I live in, and was born in Brisbane, but I have always supported Collingwood.
