I phoned the council yesterday and found out that there are no regulations or BCA rules that cover this and common sense and "Not being a total bastard" applies.

So how many layers of shielding and how deep a spacing is going to be optimum?
First thought is some flat sheet against the wooden fence and the standard gap that you get with gal tophat battens and then roofing steel or mini orb.
Second thoughts then say that is only a single airgap and setting the flat layer of the fence will be better and third thought is to use 3 layers with two smaller gaps of ~20mm and with the first layer against the fence
The chiminea is going to be made from a 90kg gas bottle
