How to fix the door jamb pieces
Hi there,
how does one go about fixing the pieces of a frame/doorjamb together? I understand the head jamb goes on top of the side jambs. But how do you fix it? Wouldn't any fixing from the top of the head jamb into the end of the side jamb (nail or pre-drill+screw) likely splinter the timber or at the very least not be very solid?
My second question sort of relates to this - I have read a few times that you put the doorjamb together first, then stand it up. Why would fitting the individual pieces insitu be wrong? In that case you could obviously not fix the top and side together like above. Would you then fit the sides, add some liquid nail, push the top in and nail at an angle?
In any case, how do you fix the door jamb to the studs+header? Nails? What size?
Thanks in advance!
