    Default Pink builders bog

Having assembled a long bar counter for a cafe with hardwood planks someone had filled all the gaps with builders bog. After days of sanding I can't live with this pink result! Do I cut the hundreds of pink fine lines or stain the bench or use car paint pen to draw over it ?please advice I'm very worried
    Thankyou😬

What do you mean by "cut the hundreds of lines"?

If you stain it dark enough it might hide it

Sorry for annoying typo, I shouldproofread! I would of loved to retain the light tones of the timber and offset it with dark putty in the Grain and gaps. But I think iits too late... What do you think about using the auto paint pen to colour in all hideous pink bog?

Why don't you post a photo so we get a better handle of what you're on about?

    Very unlikely to work

You would have to mask around every single line and, even then, it might still bleed into the surrounding timber.

Sounds like someone has used builders bog as a grain filler

Thankyou I see. What stain colour would disguise pink bog? I will try to post some pics when I learn how. This is my first forum

Sadly that is right I'm afraid. It's very sad.

    Anything dark.

How big is the bench and can you remove it? We have a large wide-belt sander at work so we could probably sand down past the bog

I know I know, just want to get a visual picture of how bad things are, how wide the scratches or lines are and how often are they appearing.
To insert a picture, just click on the 3rd icon from the left on the menu bar when you reply.

    none that I'm aware of.
Builder's Bog is a form of epoxy, once set it's basically impervious to colouring.
You could stain the entire top pink -- a really bad idea IMO -- or paint the top with auto paint enamel, again a bad idea IMO.

Depending on how much bog you have and how deep it goes, you could
sand / plane the bog off
rout the bog out and replace it with contrasting wood strips
toss the top in the bin and make a new one

Bog is styrene based, the epoxies encountered in woodworking are generally amide based

I know for a fact that bog absorbs permanent marker, I'm pretty sure it will take stain as well

So it takes stain and marker
Does that a good or bad thing?
Can someone friend me on Facebook so I can show photos? Please
