G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Michael".
There are a stack of members in Brisbane, the Darling Downs & S.E. Queensland plus the rest of the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork......
Cheers crowie

Welcome to the forum Michael,
There are a lot of separate areas of woodwork here - and quite a lot of other crafts and interests too. Let us know what you are interested in and someone will point you in the right direction.
There are some great libraries of information about things like box building so it is worth looking for those as well.
David

Thank you for the warm welcome. About 12 years ago I made a change table for my newborn son. A few years after that I made a shoe rack then a book case which turned out OK. Recently I went to the Lifeline book sale (an annual event here) and bought a dozen wood working magazines which have motivated me to make some stuff. Today I finished a saw horse with one more to make soon. I would like to make a wood work bench and the saw horses will be in invaluable tool. I currently buy pine from Masters or Bunnings but am curious about other sources of timber, especially other than pine.
