Erratic typing on forum replies
Hi,
When typing on this site the response to keystrokes is very slow and makes it nearly impossible to avoid typos. What is going on?
This problem is only apparent on Woodworkers Forum - typed VERY slowly
This problem is ony apparet on Woodworkes Forum - typed at normal speed

Only happens on IE for me, so I use Chrome and no problems any more Coylum.

OK - so I have set the bookmark for Woodwork Forum to use Chrome and not IE. Still intrigued by the fact that this is the only forum, out of the many I subscribe to, that has needed me to do this. I understand it may be something to do with the script used for this site which is constantly "checking" something with IE and this slows down the communication dramatically.

I have the same problem when I use the computers at work (we can use these computers for non-work interests during down time). Being work computers I can't install Chrome, nor Firefox.
It can be very frustrating having to watch every letter and sometimes having to hit each key twice, or even thrice, to get it to register. And only on WWF. Other woodworking sites are fine (as are other non-woodworking sites).

I write my posts offline (using Notepad), especially if I've included a link. It makes editing a whole lot easier. When satisfied with my message, I just copy and paste into the reply field. Like right now.
(Turn off wordwrap before uploading).

For those who experience slow typing in IE on this site (if it applies to other sites, you have a more general problem an this is not the fix for that)...
Go to "Settings" at the top right of the screen. In there, look down the left side, almost to the bottom, and under "My Settings", you will find "My Account", which has a section in it "General Settings". Click "General Settings", and scroll 2/3rd of the way down. Under "Miscellaneous Options", you have a choice of "Message Editor Interface". Set this to "Basic Editor - A simple text box".
Close down Internet Explorer, and reopen it. Test posting again, and the problem should be resolved.
I believe the cause is an issue with the full WYSIWYG editor in Internet Explorer.

I also have this problem. I run firefox at home to avoid it. I seem to use my tablet more these days and don't have any issues on it. I don't have a spell checker on the tab though.
