Penqueen
Hi everyone Penqueen here. I have not been to this forum or done any woodwork for ages due to health issues regarding my balance. I still went out to the Toowoomba club to help out wherever I could. On 8th August 2014 I was diognosed with brain cancer and two weeks later some of the tumour was removed for biopsy. The prognosis was frightening, I was third stage glioma.....there is a really long word for the cancer but glioma is what I remember. I had six weeks worth of radiation in three weeks so it knocked me flat for months. In the meantime I have moved to Beaudesert a lovely friendly country town but no wood club. There is a Men's She'd which I am hoping to join when it's properly up and running. My Jet mini lathe sits in the lounge room and I haven't unearthed my scrollsaw as yet.

Welcome to the forum Marg, sorry to hear of your diagnosis. The study of anti-cancer drugs is my first calling, I work with my hands to cool off and if you can it will help you too.
Cheers,

G'Day & Welcome back to a top forum "Marg".
There are a stack of members in Brisbane & S.E. Queensland plus the rest of the world.....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork......
Cheers crowie
PS - Keep the positive attitude plus the relaxation of the woodwork up as part of your continued good health and recovery....worked well for me!!

Thank-you all very much everyone. 😀 I really appreciate your moral support. I am hoping the local Mens Shed works out for me. It's been recently taken over by a local nursing home and nothing is organized yet. Apparently there are local members who are self sufficient who want to go back when the shed is up and running again. I have Googled the Constitution and it seems that it's up to members of individual sheds as to whether women can be members. I am hoping so as there is no wood club in Beaudesert. Thanks again everyone. 😀
