Greetings from Ballarat.
Hi All,
Ken here, long time lurker first time poster. Have used this site a lot in the past as a part of product research, so thought now I'm an apprentice carpenter I should participate.
Married with one child, wife Tammy, daughter Poppy (born early 2014). Wife's an art teacher and artist, and my daughter is currently my trade assistant (loves to help daddy bang bang fix fix).
I come from the training and implementation world, where I worked for 15 years until I blew my voice out; took the opportunity to switch careers, and do something I enjoy.
I've been playing 'carpenter carpenter' since I was 3, my grandmother would swap a packet of biscuits for a feed bag full of off cuts from a local joinery; I would happily sit and bang away with a hammer for hours, even drove a few nails apparently.
I've always wanted to do more than make pedestals and frames for my wife's artworks, and build things around our hobby farm (mainly poultry related); but never really had the time to get into fine wood working, even though I have an avid interest and enjoy watching fine things get made with fine tools.
Cheers!

Thanks all, will definitely check out the toy making section. I've already made her a set of blocks from the door jambs/stops I removed during renovations
