Wanting to buy a hardwood timber slab in Townsville
Hello fellow wood lovers!,
We're in the process of building a bar and I'm on the search for a timber slab 3m long (to be cut to a 2m length and a 1m length) with a width of approx 800mm if possible. I'm looking for a Queensland hardwood in a dark red/brown colour. From a little research, the following types seem to match the colour we're looking for: Red Ironbark, Greygum, Red Mahogany. I'm not sure how common these woods are or how much they cost... Ideally I'd love jarrah, but I don't like my chances over here!
If anyone has any slabs they're willing to sell, please let me know.
P.S - We live in Townsville, and are happy to pay freight within Qld.
Many thanks! I love this forum - you're all so helpful.

That looked funny on the main page it came up...
Looking to buy a hardwood....... by Jill B....lolI am told that sharpening handsaws is a dying art.... this must mean I am an artisan.
Get your handsaws sharpened properly to the highest possible standard, the only way they should be done, BY HAND, BY ME!!!I only accept perfection in any saw I sharpen.

Hi Travis,
Why cant you be closer to me as we now have no one in Townsville that can do it, only some butchers that want to use spark grinders on them, and I value my antique Disstons too much.

For a bit pf sick Aussie humour - if you wait another 24 hours you will have access to more timber than you could ever use. Sure hope that this is not the case though. Have rellys up that way.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

Haha, just checked the date, we have many types of timber from african mahogany, raintree, blackbut, mango, bluegum, just to name a few what are you looking for ? We don't keep much on hand as we cut weekly as we need it, we are on facebook under Redback Timbers
