Default hello from fc59 from syd

    g day boys n girls

i stumbled across this forum by accident while researching a few projects i have in mind

i am a steel fabricator at work and a jack of all trades everywhere els

i resently picked up wood turning again after building a custom steel center console for my ej holden panelvan i needed a new gearknob i had a bit of purple heart laying around that i havent done anything with for a few years and i ended up with this
i turned the end grain down to fit a penny flush with the top from the same year as my car was made

rather than a normal finish i sprayed it with a few coats of automotive clear coat it dose get sucked into the grain a bit but after two wet coats it was ready for a sand and polish and wax

i hope to pick some brains and dispense what little knowledge i have
    cheers

    Welcome to a great Forum.

It is good to see a metal worker using a metal lathe for doing some wood turning. I was a fitter and turner by trade (too far back to talk about though) I turn a lot of metal components for locomotives I build. Although I do now have a wood turning lathe.

Hope you make many friends on the forum.

Please post any projects you make (with pictures)

Again - a very BIG welcome

    Regards

    Keith
