Thanks, but there's no real point to my going cordless here; my two turn-of-the-century Panasonic cordless drills are it.
Oh, and a wee, wee Bosch Li-Ion driver that surprises as a powerhouse. 99% of the time my tools stay in the workshop,
and I have a big generator as backup for powercuts, but it can also go into a paddock to drive the mains drill or the skilly
when needed. I have yet to see the cordless tool that can drive a 20mm auger through a #1 strainer post {evil grin}.

Yes, the halogen on my shoulder WAS metaphorical. I use a headlamp at times, and I have decent fluorescent lighting in my shop.
The 500W halogen above the bandsaw just burned out, yet again. I am starting to hate those things. Life expectancy of a mayfly.
I still have one more, on a stand, that does not come out often. Once that goes, I'll go buy some LED floods.

I think those 500w bulbs just burn too hot for longevity. Some suppliers make 300w equivalents of the same dimension, with significantly longer life.

A hot filament hates to be disturbed: vibrations or shocks. 300w bulbs tend to last a bit longer in my fixed floods, but I've just about given up on my halogen portaflood. It gets constantly kicked, knocked & dropped, with the expected results. One of these days I'll go LED, perhaps when the price drops a bit. Given the mere fraction of energy used, and the general robustness of better quality LED arrays, it should pay for itself fairly quickly.

Gosh, thanks. I have fired off a query because I cannot follow through with their instructions to get shipping calculated. Somehow I never see any button in the shopping basket to 'quote on shipping'. I hope they can sort me out.

That they only deduct VAT/GST if you are registered in another EU country is, well, not nice. Even so, it's a very good price indeed. We'll see what happens.

I had a look a couple of weeks ago and found one outfit in Germany that sells them for 207 Euro plus 52 Euro shipping. That adds up to 410 NZ$. The big question is how much the Poms want for shipping.....

Good grief, the cheapest shipping offer that Lawson could quote is 115 quid via DHL. Damn near as much as the saw.
Back to the drawing board.
