    Default Woodpeckers

I just wanted to give a big to the Woodpeckers line of 'tools' and their local Australian distributors Professional Woodworkers Supplies. Though WP may not have the largest range of wood workings 'tools', etc on the market, their quality is nothing short of superb and their distributors PWS are right up there with them in their product sales and service. That service doesn't just stop at the cash register either. It extends well beyond that, right up until you are fully familiarised and completely satisfied with your purchase.
And just to give another plug for one more of PWS's items, that being Whiteside Router bits. I just received 4 of their router bits in the mail and I have never seen anything so far to compare with them, and I have router bits from all the major suppliers here. While I'm all for supporting Australian made items, these bits are more than equal to any I've bought before.
I'll try and post some pics tomorrow just to give an idea as well as how they are packaged. A new first there as well.

I really had to commit this to my shocking memory last night so I wouldn't forget (again) to take the pic as promised.

Apart from the Whiteside router bits in this pic, I slipped a couple of others just for comparison, not that you can see a whole lot from just one pic.

One thing that I found of particular note was the way Whiteside protect their bits against any unforeseen damage in transit, and/or ongoing protection for the bits even after the customer takes possession.

The entire cutting surface, in fact the whole top of the bit is protected with a pliable waxy substance so that they are safe right up until the time you finally decide to put them to their intended use. I thought that 'going this extra mile' showed a company who cared about both their product as well as their customers in doing this.

The three bits in the top RH corner are still coated.

    Hope this helps,

PWS has given up on a lot of Woodpeckers products, as they only do short runs, and continuity of supply is therefore suspect. I have found that most Woodpeckers products are still mostly in Imperial measurements that in many cases does not fit in with what we now use in Australia, as we have been metric for 50 years.
Whiteside router bits are excellent, agreed.
You might also look at Lee Valley, who are Canadian based. They have a lot of hard to find products woodworkers search for, and their prices are reasonable as is their shipping costs. I recently bought a router bit from them that was not available in Aus. and very happy with the purchase.
