Default Early christmas present for our farmers

Since late yesterday arv we have had some very good rain (round 50 mm) it has been nice and gentle with the odd heavy shower. A lot of farmers would have been looking out for this rain for weeks. It has lowered the temps as well which is great.

As far as the figures for the year go, on paper we are not far behind our yearly total (610 mm 24") but its not a true indication of moisture in the ground. We have been in drought, around Tamworth for about 4 years. A lot of people on the land are only just hanging on. This rain may hopefully bring some hope to them

The Super Markets don't really reflect the situation on the land because the shelves still have stock on them which may have come from another supplier in another area or imported from where ever

Happy Christmas to all our farmers and my hope for you is to have a more prosperous New Year
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

Great news Rod, but the land really needs a good drenching.
Lets hope the inland and especially all the way up through Queensland also receive such a Christmas present too....my cousin has a cattle stud near Jericho and they've been dry for the 4yrs too....
That would be a real Christmas Blessing to the farmers...RAIN....then the New Year could start to be prosperous...Lets Hope & Pray!!.

Excellent news Rod. We had very good steady rain all day yesterday too, but we needed it for a different reason - bushfire prevention.

We had our very own mini-climate change this week. 35° and dry as hell on Sunday, and i could smell that there was a fire somewhere not too far away. 13° and very wet by Tuesday (could quite easily have lit the fireplace).
