    Default Getting back to wood.

Hello I am John from the North Island of NZ. All I want to do is read and learn about the tools and methods that do not make either dust or noise. I had not realised there was such a strong culture of using hand tools, suits me because dust is a problem for me.
Actually my hands are really the only bits I have which will still do whatever I ask of them!
Not sailing anymore, it is a handle I have used before, came here via the boating forum.
Thankyou to all the craftsmen who take the time and make the effort to contribute and share the knowledge.

    Hi John,

    Welcome to a great Forum.

Don't know if I can help as regards to not making dust, but have got a dust extractor connected to my machinery - so try to keep it to a minimum (without a lot of luck).

There are many people only too willing to assist with any queries.

Hope you make many good friends on this Forum and enjoy your Woodworking journey.

    Best Regards

    Keith

Hand tools are fantastic. I enjoy my Japanese tools enormously.

A book to get and read is Chris Schwarz's The Anarchists Toolchest. I've absolutely no idea why he used that title (the explanation in the book is terribly lame) but the content, vibe and ethos is excellent.

    Happy journeys
