If it were up to me (hold on it is up to me) I would take the $3 and the $3.50: Yes that is $6.50 all up as the bids are cumulative. Oh......didn't you know that. New rule: Been in existence for minutes .

Actually I couldn't possibly accept those as starting bids even if it were allowed in the Forum rules as I think that would only get me fuel as far as Springwood. It's still a long walk from there . AND certainly not for a Simonds. I have difficulty parting with them at the best of times.

That explains a lot. Last time I saw you, which was at one of the BM GTGs, you had only recently made a good attempt to feed your finger through your table router and we were discussing the wound.

My memory is that you had had a skin graft and I asked whether they had done a dovetail joint and you replied just a butt weld.

After that I was reluctant to ask from where they had taken the skin .

    Hi Paul,
Rather than have a hairy finger, l was given the choice of a number of naturally bald donor sites ..... and luckily the underside of my forearm won!
lm disappointed at not being able to attend BMGTG6 for a number of reasons but one of them is that l have recently been given an old canvas saw bag overfilled with probably common handsaws but I was going to give our resident sawmeister first dibs. I have also acquired a loose handle fitted with a full set of medallion and split nuts that was also to be gifted. It is by far the most comfortable handle lve ever held but maybe that is because of the lack of a blade.......!
l'll will bring them to the next GTG because I fear that having reneged on this one it may require booty to be allowed back in?

Thanks Nick, that's a very kind offer but it would further to your place than Katoomba for me. I might see if Pat is driving past here on his way up the Mountains or I might just hang on to them to ensure entry to the next ?

Not sure Dave. Carbatec is just off the GW Hwy (Parramatta Rd) at Auburn.

Is this a cunning ploy not only to get you entry to the next GTG, but to entice me down next time too? Problem for me is that there is only ever a very narrow window where I can make the 2000km round trip. As it is, Brett very kindly moved the date this time so I could get along. I think it was going to be the weekend before originally. Perhaps that move has precluded your own attendance! The dreaded double edged sword.

When Nick put his hand up to bring the saws my first thought was "that'll be the last we see of the saws" and then I realised to my shame that it was a genuine offer .

Let me know if the links I posted in another thread for saw manufacturer sites was the type of thing you had in mind for reference as we will not be meeting up this time around. If not we can talk further by PM, email or even phone, but not here as it will be a hijack of humungous proportions. Even well-renowned "digressionist" FenceFurniture may become peeved.

The stack of saws sounds .

I drove through Yass on my way back to Sydney about two weeks ago but did not stop at Yass as that was just way too far from Sydney for the toilet break.
